Biography

Marlene CooperMs. Cooper is a native of Pasadena, California. She attended UCLA, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975 and a Juris Doctorate in 1978.

An attorney for over 40 years, Ms. Cooper spent the first 22 years of her career as in-house Corporate Counsel for Pacific Bell (SBC), serving as Supervising Senior Counsel the last ten years of her tenure. She and her staff had responsibility for all third party litigation in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern counties involving Pacific Bell.

After leaving Pacific Bell in 2000, Ms. Cooper established a private law practice focused entirely on estate planning, trusts, wills and probate. She has been a featured speaker or panelist for numerous professional, civic and social organizations. She was honored in 2012 as a “Woman Achiever” by Business Life Magazine, in 2013 as a “Woman of Achievement” by the Pasadena Journal and a “Role Model for Youth” by Aspires West. She also writes a weekly column, “Estate Planning 101”, for the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Journal News.

Ms. Cooper is a member of the Pasadena Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. She is also a member of several civic and social organizations in the community. She is married to Keith Cooper, who works with her in her law practice. She also has two children and two grandchildren.

Ms. Cooper is passionate about the work she does assisting people with their estate planning and estate settlement needs. She has expressed these views in her article entitled “I’m In Love“.
